Turkey Accessories I Love |

The March 2010 issue of InSights offers some turkey must-haves, but for the true gearhound, too much is not enough!
There is some gear that isn't 100 percent necessary, but is still great to have. For example, a flashlight: A flashlight will occasionally help out in turkey hunting, and I've really enjoyed my Surefire. Lightweight, bright and durable, Surefire offers a terrific product. It's also fairly inexpensive. For those in the NRA, the Surefire NRA Defender, a flashlight brand made from an agreement between the NRA and Surefire, is a strong suggestion. It puts some money into the NRA. And it comes with a hat clip, for when you need your hands for other things.
Another good item to have is a field seat. One I would suggest is the H.S. Strut "Strut Seat." The Strut Seat will keep you off the ground in muddy conditions, and keep you comfortable in all conditions. Its legs allow it to be turned around to fit the terrain for your comfort. It is so far the only folding turkey seat to pass the requirements of the Consumer Testing Laboratories.
Binoculars are good for far-away turkeys or anything else you find interesting in the woods. For this, I've had great success with small Zeiss binoculars. Zeiss binoculars work very well, and can fit in the pocket of your pants.
A range finder can be useful in some tough decisions. (To shoot or not to shoot, that is the question!) I've had experience with the Bushnell Scout 1000. It''s a fine range finder, and can measure for as far as you could possibly need.
